The revelation from the Seventh Bowl foretold the destruction of Babylon (16:19). Chapters 17 and 18 constitute a literary unit focused on that destruction. The Psalms were Israel's inspired hymnal. We don't know the tunes to which they were sung, but like any worship song, the words are the most important feature. David penned this psalm for use in Israel royal coronations. But, as is often the case with Scripture, there was more to this psalm than meets the eye, and more than David possibly understood.

These words from Psalm 35 are a prayer for God to deal with nations who broke promises (treaties) with Israel. These words provide counsel for Believers who suffer the broken promises of others.
